Two rare antique American fractional currency banknotes. Fractional Currency, introduced during the Civil War era, represented a unique and temporary solution to the shortage of coins in circulation. These small denomination banknotes, also known as shinplasters, were issued in fractional values ranging from 3 cents to 50 cents. The lot features 15 cents and 50 cents notes from the fourth issue.
