This half of an originally two-panel kilim from the Konya area was probably woven by Hotamis Turkmen. Six hexagons that are not directly connected, each with a set of nested serrated motifs at their centres, are arranged vertically in the white field. They have extensive powerful hooks and double hooks attached to their corners and sides. In five of the six primary designs, the hooks have striking striped outlines in diverse colours. In the wide dark brown lateral border, merging small diamonds decorated with hooks and short lateral arms combine into a complex lattice of reciprocal forms which is divided into sections by the different colours of the designs. â€â€œ Signs of age and wear, a number of missing areas. Mounted onto canvas.
