THE LARGEST DUTCH AUCTION HOUSE AAG is based in Amsterdam, the centre of the Netherlands’ art and antiques business and the focal point for the international art trade and many leading international auction houses. Our offices are open daily for information and valuations. AAG continues to enjoy a special relationship with The Hague. This is due in part to the fact that AAG was founded in this city and held its sales here for many years. There are also close ties with the Indonesian community of The Hague, Indonesian art being one of AAG’s noted specialities. For several years, AAG has organized successful auctions of Indonesian and Indo-European art in Jakarta and Singapore. We also have an office in Geneva to maintain contact with the Dutch community in Switzerland. QUALITY AAG deals in high-quality art, antiques, wines and collectibles in the broadest sense of the term. Its sales are therefore of interest to a wide public. Lots are organized according to type and price class, ensuring that each will be seen by as many potential buyers as possible. Moreover, each object consigned for sale is given maximum exposure in the catalogue. AAG’s specialist auctions are held twice a year in the categories Old Master Paintings, 19th and early 20th century paintings, Modern and Contemporary Art, Furniture, and Miscellaneous (ceramics, glass, silver, jewellery, etc.). There are also regular sales of fine wines. Whenever possible, specialist auctions devoted to a particular theme, event or an important collection are held. Several sales of Indonesian and Indo-European art and crafts are held in Jakarta and/or Singapore each year. SERVICE, DEPENDABILITY AND EXPERTISE AAG offers the highest standards of service to both buyers and sellers. Anyone considering offering a lot at auction can depend on a rapid response, expert advice and support, and prompt settlement following a successful sale. Expert valuations are provided with no further obligation. Our experts will also be pleased to offer valuations for the purposes of estate and inheritance matters. Items consigned for auction are brought to the attention of selected prospective purchasers, shown on our website, listed prominently in our catalogues and displayed on viewing days. Where appropriate, additional publicity including media coverage of exceptional lots will be arranged. Items which are unsold during the auction itself may be offered for ‘aftersale’, either through our website or discreetly via our network of contacts. If our experts believe that an object will achieve a higher sale price elsewhere, we will mediate with the appropriate parties, whether in the Netherlands or abroad, on the consignor’s behalf. Prospective purchasers are informed about forthcoming sales by means of mailing lists, advertisements, media coverage, the illustrated catalogues and our website. Advance ‘commission’ bids are accepted on line, by phone and in writing, while telephone bidding during the auction itself is available on all lots with an estimate of € 500 or more. Prospective buyers can be assured of accurate information regarding the provenance and quality of the items offered for sale. Prior to the auction, our experts will gladly advise on the condition of the lots and will explain how the estimated price has been derived. For the benefit of purchasers and sellers, our Auction Terms and Conditions are available on request. This document is binding on all parties. AAG has its own team of experienced experts who are able to advise on the vast majority of the items offered for sale in the major categories. We are also able to call upon an extensive network of external experts, including art historians, collectors and museums, who have specialist knowledge of the more unusual objects. Our in-house staff includes several accredited auctioneers and valuers. AAG is registered as an auction house by the Dutch Federation of Valuers, Brokers and Auctioneers in Movable Goods (Federatie TMV). The proceeds from each sale are paid into a client account from which disbursements to clients and the auction house are administered by the Stichting Derdengelden foundation.
